This is the city of 12 million inhabitants. Yet one can find the combination of elegence and solitude so ever easily. Blue and green , sunrise and sunset , full moon and soft night shape and reshape this city .. And Istanbul writes Her poetry everyday..So we live with each line , we search the past ..we find it in present..yet we live the present in past.

Mentha Longifolia is one of the permanent plant of my terrace . With its silvery frosted green leaves gives the velvet feelıng when touched .It grows under any plant and very decoratively cover the pots . Leaves are narrow but when young more oblong . Identification of the mints can be quite difficult simply because they are very variable and easily hybridized . In literature Longifolia smell noted as unpleasant or at least some people say so . However the one , I have , has very soft spicy smell of mint compare to regular mint which smells sharply . Therefore identification needs special attention. As I observe on my terrace flowers attract more bees and insect that other plants. There is always a very high traffic on this particular plant. SORCHUS ARVENSIS ( a terrorist plant? )

Sorchus Arvensis is one of the wild plant grows and completes its life cycle on my terrace. In nature we step on it and never notice it unless we lean down and look at its details. When examine closely one becomes aware of its beautiful features. Reading about Sorchus Arvensis , clearly shows that it represents the modesty in nature . Apperently it gets very little out of soil because it grows under any soil condition . Yet it offers some medical values. So here some of its  contributions ; -good as a livestock feed , new growth can be eaten by sheep -excellent forage for rabbits -it has some minor elements for the diet of North American birds -young leaves may be cooked or be eaten raw like spinach and salad -the leaves are rich in mineral salts and vitamin C , they contain about 45 to 50 mg of vitamin C per 100 gr -stems can be cooked like asparagus -roots can be used as coffee substitute like chicory roots medically it is anti-inflammatory , its tea from roots can be used in ...
